The fantasy style brings together letters whose formal construction is based on free design. They are generally display types with a particular typographic personality. This classification was established by Finizola (2010) during the survey Typographical Panorama of Vernacular Lettering: a case study in the city of Recife. The categories are fluid, and the same sign may present characteristics of more than one style.
