The municipality of Salgueiro is located in the mesoregion of Pernambuco hinterland and in the microregion of Salgueiro. It is crossed by two main highways, the BR-232 and the BR-116, and is known as the ‘crossroads of the Northeast’. The caatinga vegetation and the semi-arid climate are characteristic of the region. The district headquarters presents a more urban nature with the largest commercial area in the region, which is why it was chosen for the project field studies.
